This must be a “World Turned Upside Down” kind of moment for Virginia Republicans. Three polls conducted in the past week have Barack Obama polling above 50% in the Commonwealth (CNN/Time, Insider Advantage and Rasmussen). Despite the historical and partisan advantages for John McCain here, Barack Obama getting it done in Virginia.
As of today, FiveThirtyEight.com (my favorite polling/analysis website by far) gives Barack Obama a 52.8% chance of winning Virginia. The Real Clear Politics average of the past 5 polls puts Obama 2.6% ahead.
If these numbers continue to look as they do, combining them with the Obama campaign’s incredible voter registration push and their strong organization on the ground makes Virginia look more and more likely.
Looking at these numbers, it’s easier to understand why Virginia Republicans would scramble to rile their base by manufacturing an issue out of thin air **cough**Klingenschmitt**cough**.

Why is Obama recruiting the ex-felon demographic to wedge-in his take-over of Virginia?
Seem a little too cynical to me.
Here’s today’s AP story that confirms it:
